Design proposal for a new theatrical arts and music school within a vacant campus site in Indianapolis, IN. Building concept developed from the idea of exposing and presenting the key elements of the building. The site’s library, auditorium, and black box theaters merge out of the ground plane as the predominant features of the site. Traditional classrooms are inserted into the existing buildings found on the site. The creation of a sunken outdoor courtyard connects the three buildings and, when needed, can act as an outdoor stage.
